We are seeking a Hospice & Palliative Care Medical Director to provide clinical leadership for a growing hospice and palliative care program while working alongside a dedicated interdisciplinary team committed to exceptional patient care.
Position Highlights
- Medical Director role providing oversight for both hospice and palliative care services
- Blend of leadership, direct patient care, mentorship, and program development
- Collaborate with physicians, APPs, nursing, social work, chaplaincy, and care management teams
- Lead quality improvement initiatives and ensure regulatory compliance
- Opportunity to help expand outpatient palliative care services
- Physician representative on the hospital Ethics Committee
- Report directly to the Chief Medical Officer
- Participate in strategic planning and program growth initiatives
Responsibilities
- Provide medical direction and clinical oversight for hospice and palliative care programs
- Perform hospice certifications and recertifications
- Manage complex symptom control and supportive care consultations
- Mentor physicians, nurse practitioners, and interdisciplinary team members
- Promote evidence-based, compassionate end-of-life care
- Participate in quality, accreditation, and performance improvement initiatives
- Assist with policy development and community outreach
- Attend interdisciplinary team meetings and key medical staff committees
Qualifications
- MD or DO
- Active, unrestricted medical license
- 3–5+ years of clinical experience in gerontology, primary care, hospice, or palliative medicine
- Board certification in Hospice & Palliative Medicine or related specialty preferred
- DEA registration
- Leadership or administrative experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of hospice regulations and Medicare requirements
