This service is supported by 2 Full-Time, experienced In-Patient GI Nurse Practitioners, who do the bulk of the rounding and consult with the physician as needed or directed. The hospital has roughly 500 In-Patient Acute Beds, including a 72 bed ICU and Large, dedicated Endoscopy Suite. The schedule is 7 days on, 7 days off, covering the service for 24 hours. The expectation is 7a-5p in the hospital, with coverage by phone after hours. This service works along with our community GI Physicians to serve the patients of North Florida. The hospital offers the most advanced endoscopic procedures in North Florida and South Georgia. Whether it’s removing precancerous tumors in the digestive tract or placing stents that allow patients to eat again, our expert endoscopic surgeons offer a variety of gastrointestinal treatments.
